A Word from Pastor Larry Pittman
HOPE IS WHERE THE HEART IS; HAVE YOU HEARD THAT TERM? It’s a nice poetic term that we can kick around and use from time to time. The Heart is what God looks upon! Romans 10:9-10 tells us that a person confesses Christ as Lord and Savior and that by our Heart we believe unto Righteousness. And in Colossians, it is the Heart that is circumcised so that it may believe and act in righteousness. In Psalms, David is a man after God’s own Heart.
The Heart is an incredible thing. Poets use the Heart as a term to refer to one’s emotional longing for something by saying, “’They have a Heart for this work’; or ‘they have a heart for this country’.” Young Love talks about giving their Heart to someone. The doctors say the Heart pumps gallons and gallons of blood a minute and that it pumps it out to miles and miles of arteries and veins that God created in the human being. Scientist say that the human heart developed from a fish that crawled out of the ocean millions of years ago. Lovers say the Heart can be broken and then mended again with love. And the Bible almost equally interchanges the terms Soul and Heart to describe the “container” of the Spirit and Soul in a human being that will someday spend Eternity in Heaven.
Hope is indeed where the heart is, because the Bible tells us that Jesus is our only Hope of Glory. And unless we intentionally trust Jesus as our personal Lord and Savior, and believe with all of our Heart that what He has already accomplished for us on the Cross is for our Salvation, then all hope is Lost. For only in Salvation is there any Hope in the Sureness and Truth of Eternal Life. “For with the Heart believes unto righteous and with the mouth confession is made unto Salvation.” (Rom. 10:9-10).
At Irving Baptist Fellowship Church, we seek to Love and Serve God with all of heart, soul, mind, and strength. We are not a perfect fellowship of believers; but we are true intentional servants and Disciples of Christ Jesus, who are working through the struggles of Life and loving and supporting each other in our endeavors. We must make a difference in other’s lives and a true impact on our Community spiritually and physically. As their Pastor, I’m asking you to come along with us as Servants joining our effort in the Kingdom Body of the Church of Jesus Christ.
The Baptist Faith is our Vehicle in serving God, but Faith and Service are the Fuel for our Vehicle. Don’t let names or prejudice confuse you. We are a group of Believers that are intentionally reaching out to the World around us in the best way that we understand how to do so. Our Worship and Sermons are as genuine and authentic as we can make them. But we make our plans counting on the Holy Spirit to show up and guide our Hearts and Minds for His Glory and Our Good.
Please join us in our service for the Kingdom. We are at 2201 W. Shady Grove Rd. at Glenwick and right beside Sonic Drive-in. We have Bible Study at 9:45 A.M. and Worship Time at 11:00 A.M. in the Sanctuary. We’ll see you on Sunday please.
